His mother said, he could lose his shoes;
But tying them, he didn’t choose.
One morning, walking to his school;
His shoes got stuck, in a deep mud pool.
His feet,from loosened unlaced shoes, slid out,
The shoes sunk, to his friend he gave a shout.
Reaching to retrieve, his new black brogues,
He slipped neck high, into the mire.
His friend with a rope, and lots of hope,
Yanked him out, minus shoes and socks.
The Boy now covered in mud, head to toe
Homeward was forced to go.
His mother, seeing her boy froze;
Then dowsed him, with a watering hose.
